Thermopylae Regatta 2025

The V.I.R.S. 2025 season closer is upon us, with the loss of both the CFSA regatta and the CRASH regatta in the September slots. This is the only Fall Regatta remaining on the Island. The Entertainment Committee is helping us put together a great social schedule for the weekend, including;

• On Friday Night, we will have a complimentary drink ticket (1 per entry) available for racers to pick up their race packages and enjoy a couple of racers' specials in the Chart Room/Main Lounge. 
• Saturday Morning, there will be a complimentary light continental breakfast and coffee in the main lounge, followed by a competitors meeting and a weather briefing.
• Saturday Night, after racing, includes a Spartan-themed battle, a Toga Party, and an excellent dinner. More details to come! (This will be our first Regatta Dinner with the new Events Manager and Chef, and we have told them to pull out the stops to impress.)
• Sunday will again offer a complimentary light continental breakfast and coffee in the main lounge, followed by a competitor's meeting and a weather briefing.
• On Sunday, after racing, we will present regatta prizes and the Vancouver Island Racing Series 2025 top ten awards. 

You will also notice that there is not a selection for "Long Distance" or "Around the Bouys" when entering. The Race Committee aims to create the most equitable divisions possible with the entries received and to select suitable courses for each division, taking into account weather, currents, and the fleet makeup. Don't worry, we will not be making the racer cruisers bang around the buoys all weekend, but you might do a short race or two to ensure we get racing in and all fleets get 5-10 races for the weekend. The method is meant to be racer-centric, so if you have concerns or specific wishes for your fleet, feel free to reach out to the Organizing Authority at racingfleetcaptain@rvyc.ca, and if you want the best, most fun racing, encourage similar-type boats to yours to register!
